High Country Location: Nunniong High Plains, Victoria
Length: 2 days minimum
Travel Time from Bairnsdale to Nunniong State Forest: 1 hour 46 minutes
While it’s not a place you’d seek out for epic Victorian 4wd tracks, the snow gums, eucalypt forests and dog friendly campgrounds of the Nunniong State Forest are worth the visit. The grassy high plains are home to beautiful high country brumbies, and there’s plenty of fishing, horse riding (a popular spot for people camping with their horses!), bushwalking, trail bike riding and high country hut exploring to do. Watch the roads for high country cattle as you drive in and don’t forget to stop in at the Ensay Pub for lunch!
